topshop brisbane + margot’s world

It was revealed over the weekend that Topshop would finally be coming to Brisbane in December. The new Topshop store will be housed in the old Borders site on the corner of Elizabeth and Albert Streets (was there really any other option?) While we may have had to wait a little longer than our Victorian and NSW counterparts, Brisbane will be rewarded with the largest Topshop store in Australia. Although, after visiting the Oxford Street store in London during sale season I’m not sure if this is a particularly good thing (still traumatised over here). All collections will be available in store including Topshop Unique and Boutique and Topman suiting. My initial reaction to the news was “fiiinnally” although the obvious downside is, Brisbane being as small as it is, that everyone will end up as Topshop clones. Anyway, one of Topshop’s latest campaigns, called Margot’s World, is described as being a femme fatale take on Wes Anderson’s iconic heroines. That description alone has me sold on this collection. I am all for taking sartorial cues from the likes of Margot Tenenbaum and Suzy Bishop. And I’d be okay with the rest of Brisbane doing so as well.

  1. I found Topshop on Oxford St seriously stressful too, haha. I even find the Sydney store a little chaotic at times, so I still prefer to buy online – but it's nice to be able to get things in person sometimes.

  2. I shop at Topshop in Oxford St often and its packed in there regardless if there is a sale or not! They really need to have two to cut down the amount of people in there it really gets stupid in there! Love the look of the new collection, my kinda style!

  3. Brisbane is fast becoming a fashion destination beside Sydney and Melbourne and there are definitely more than enough room and demand for chains like H&M and Zara besides Topshop. We are all waiting with bated breaths.
