diana vreeland: the eye has to travel

Why don’t you… dress up in your finest gear and watch the Diana Vreeland biopic The Eye Has to Travel?

I did this last night (alas, minus my most stylish getup) and cannot recommend this film enough. Even if you’re not the slightest bit interested in #fashun, the film provides a great insight into a truly remarkable character. While I don’t think I’m the most qualified to provide a critique of the film, what I do know is that I came away feeling awestruck, amazed, and absolutely inspired not only by the life that Diana Vreeland led but also what she achieved and created in her lifetime. From her visionary editorial spreads to the inclusion of arts and music features in fashion magazines, you could say her legacy is pretty much the fashion publishing industry as we know it today. If you have the chance, do not hesitate to go see this film!
I’ll leave you with some (probably loosely paraphrased) quotes from the film that stuck with me:
“There’s only one very good life and that’s the life you know you want and you make it yourself”
“It’s not the dress that matters, it’s the life you live while wearing it”
“The best thing about London? Paaaaaris!” (especially fun to say while putting on your best Diana Vreeland voice)
“Don’t be boring”
