In my last post I mentioned going to Future Music Festival over the weekend. Like always, I took a film camera along for the ride. It’s not a festival I would usually go to and I wasn’t really interested until the second lineup was realeased with New Order and Friendly Fires on it. Luckily, I managed to score tickets through a Sportsgirl competition. Highlights of the festival were definitely Friendly Fires and New Order, as well as the free Cornetto ice creams that were being handed out (ice cream will always save the day). I also got to see a bit of Hercules & Love Affair, Die Antwoord, The Rapture, and The Wombats. Lowlights mainly had to do with the un-chill vibe of the crowds and the shocking traffic situation afterwards. My friend and I eventually managed to hail a taxi away from the festival site but others weren’t so lucky. I probably wouldn’t attend this festival again, but am so happy that I had the chance to finally see Friendly Fires (lots of missed connections in the past) and witness a seminal band like New Order perform.

I did a similar post about Future Music Festival – definitely not one I'd usually find myself at either (I prefer chilled out festivals, you know, Southbound, Groovin' the Moo). Your film photographs are amazing – they have such a quality as opposed to digital pictures. 🙂

These shots are great! I would have loved to see New Order, but like you said, the crowd doesn't seem very relaxed.

The crowd at New Order was probably the best of the entire day – everyone was there to dance and be happy. All the rowdier people had gone to see Swedish House Mafia haha.
Looks like such a great ambience, bet the music was amazing too 🙂

I saw New Order at Big Day Out many many many years ago, they were so amazing!
I know what you meant about Future Music, we were given tickets to their first two gigs and the crowd were so horrible we vowed to never go back there again.
I was so weirded out by New Order headlining Future. They definitely make more sense to be playing BDO or Splendour. The atmosphere at Future just seems to be too frenetic.
Sooo good!! I went BDO and was thinking about Future but I guess from what you've said the vibe wasn't amazing…love the snaps though! film makes everything look better I swear 🙂
