new/old cosina camera

I don’t think I’ve shared the latest addition to my analogue camera family on the blog yet. It was actually a little something from my dad. While I was in Prague, he sent me a text (which I received at 5am, no less) saying he’d found and bought me an SLR camera and lens. Totally unexpected but greatly appreciated. While I was initially excited, I then realised I had to wait over two weeks before it was in my hands. Patience is not my strong point. I haven’t had a chance to test it out yet as I’ve still got to get through unfinished films on my Holga and Diana Mini. I’m unfamiliar with this make of camera, so if anyone has had experience with one I’d love to hear your reviews.
Also, I’ve drawn the winner of my Viparo Clothing giveaway (with the help of good old random.org). Congratulations to Helena of fourzerofive. Thanks again to everyone who entered. I just wish you all could have gotten a prize!

  1. That's so cool of your dad, what an awesome present! Looking forward to seeing the pictures you take on it.

  2. One thing that I like about SLRs over the lomo toy cameras is that you'll always know when your photos will be in focus – I always forget to change the focal distances on my lomos! Can't wait to see your shots from this camera. Have fun with it 🙂

  3. @Kallie: it kind of gave me a reason to come home haha.

    @GeorgiaRose: It was so random of my dad. I love it when my family enables my crazy collections.

    @Hannah: fingers crossed!

    @joey: haha yessss! That is a pet hate of mine too.

  4. Oh gosh, I love cameras. I keep tossing with the idea of getting some vintage lenses – mainly since they'd be a heck of a lot cheaper than the ones I really want to buy!

    And wheeee! I'm so excited about my win. Thanks very much to you and Viparo Clothing and (maybe most importantly) random.org!!

  5. @Helena: I've seen some good results of people using analogue lenses on digital cameras – it's worth a shot!

    @Lyndall: indeed! I need to figure out a good display situation for all my cameras. If I'm not using them they may as well serve a purpose and make the place look pretty.
