travel photos: paris sights

After I visited the Eiffel Tower, I proceeded with my ‘tourist day’ and visited a few more famous Paris sights – namely the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-ร‰lysรฉes, Notre Dame, and the Louvre. I even managed to lose my bearings in the 5th and 6th arrondissements and stumble upon the Luxembourg Palace and Gardens. Is it still getting lost if you end up finding more interesting stuff along the way? I swear that walking around the sidestreets is an exercise in sightseeing itself. Thank goodness for extended daylight hours – I don’t know how I would have crammed it all in otherwise! On a side note, while I was wandering around the city that day people kept stopping me and asking for directions. Even a businesswoman who spoke fluent French – and then turned out to be Australian! Was it the striped shirt? Or maybe I just looked like I knew where I was going (hahahaha). Either way, it was fun to think that even on my most touristy day I could have passed for a local.

  1. Wow wow, your photos are beautiful. I've always wanted to visit that cathedral, the architecture is amazing, those flying buttresses and archways!

  2. Awesome pictures, especially the first two! You make getting lost sound like the best way to explore a new city, haha. Did you find that Paris was a tourist-friendly sort of place? I'm thinking of travelling there this summer.

  3. these photographs are beautiful, i can't wait to go to paris again! even though i haven't been commenting often (sorry!), i've been loving all of your holiday posts.

    xxx

  4. Haha! Excellent. Perhaps it's because you're not 60+, or hundled in a little tourist group?
    I like getting lost sometimes – I've gotten lost several times this month in the valley/herston/indooroopilly driving at night, and it was interesting!
    It def worth seeing touristy things ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. @RDYN: it's quite spectacular. Definintely worth seeing.

    @Jane: You must visit Paris! I found it to be quite tourist friendly. We had a few encounters with some snooty types but I put that down to a general 'there are jerks everywhere' kind of thing.

    @Jazzabelle: no worries, glad you're enjoying them ๐Ÿ™‚

    @Hannah: must be my friendly face haha.

    @flairtoremember: I couldn't believe I was finally there! Amazing.

  6. I love your photos! I was in Paris last year and we loved the long long days in summer, you can do so much! we were kind of tired when we arrived so were going to bed around ten every night, meaning we didn't actually see Paris in the dark for about a week!

  7. ha, I always look lost, so I never get asked for directions. This is a good thing, as it would be awkward for all concerned ๐Ÿ™‚ but you do look very frenchy here, maybe that's why they asked you.

  8. Eee, I just got back from there and I loved it so much! Is the second photo insdide the notre dame? We didnt make it inside which I was pretty gutted about, it looks amazing!
