wearing: new hat

Hat: Temt | Top: Cotton On | Skirt: Thrifted | Belt: Vintage, via mum | Ring: Sportsgirl

I’m pretty sure I have posted a similar outfit already on this blog. Or some variation of it. Then again, I am a member of the school of “If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It”. It’s pretty much all I’ve been wearing thanks to this extended summer of sorts. I have dazzled it up a bit with a new hat and some deep red lipstick (it’s a lot darker than photos show). If you follow me on twitter, you may or may not have seen this hat already (I’m finding twitter quite useful for all those ‘in-between’ blogging bits and pieces. Other than that, I still have the urge to ‘like’ every second tweet). Moral of the story is: give me two hours to kill in a crowded shopping centre and, after spending one of those hours in a bookstore, I will end up buying hats and other miscellany that I probably didn’t need. I nearly ended up buying three hats that day. In hindsight, I kind of wish I did.

  1. @whitney, @Bec, @Toni: thanks!

@BlithelyUnaware: I think hats are quite dapper in winter. Especially felt ones. Plus they don't make your forehead as sweaty like in summer :S

@gee: that's always the case isn't it? When you're on the hunt, you can never find one. Good luck!

  2. I'm definitely of the opinion that if you've found something that works, why go messing around with it too much? This look is great on you. I love hats.

    xx

  3. Haha, the hat looks great! I just did the same thing, I bought a pair of over the knee socks from sportsgirl I probably don't really need. Lovely outfit and lipstick is always fun!

  4. love your skirt, well actually I love the whole outfit! I have a similar skirt but printed, where the pleats start at exactly thr same place, oh yes the hat is lovely too!

  5. Love what you've done with your hair- I always find it tricky to wear my hair in any style but down when wearing a hat but this looks gorgeous. You carry off midi skirts so well too! x

  6. you totally rock hats! and i love that you've paired it with some red lippy! the whole look reminds me of some old 50's secret spy film!

    x amie

  7. God I do that all the time, I wear the same formula of outfit over and over as I agree, if it looks good may as well take advantage. Cute new hat darling x

  8. loveee this. I finally managed to get my hands on a midi today at a salvos in capalaba and this is, more or less, how I intend to style it.

ps. what colour is on your nails??

    x

  9. @Carla: the lipstick is "Dubbonet" by Prestige

@Rachelous: thank you. I often find that to be quite the dilemma too. I think messy side buns or plaits work well with hats.

@Amie: I am now calling this my spy hat. YES.

@JoyC: never had that comparison made before but I'm totally going to claim it now! haha thank you

@jamie-lee: plus it makes choosing what to wear in the morning so much easier! haha

@Taylor: the nailpolish is "Minted" by Revlon.

  10. these pictures are absolutely lovely (i particularly like the last shot), you look beautiful! the pleated skirt is great, plus the hat looks so pretty on you! x

  11. Lovely lovely lovely!
Don't worry, I keep repeating similar outfits all the time just because I never got enough creamy colours in my life. Your nails give some different vibe on the whole outfit, which is refreshing.
    <3 it much!
    🙂
